Josh Bokee is a proud parent and candidate for Frederick County Council, District 3, running to ensure our neighborhoods have representation that delivers real results — not rhetoric.
He believes every resident and family deserves tangible progress — great schools; affordability for families, older adults and new professionals alike; more reliable transportation; streets and pathways that are safe for pedestrians and bicyclists; new parks, a new neighborhood & senior center, indoor aquatics; and a community where everyone is welcomed, included and at the table when decisions are made.
Josh has taken action and produced results across our Frederick community. He organizes stream and school cleanups, volunteers on the Frederick HS PTSA and and chairs the County’s transportation advisory council where he advocates for needed bus, pedestrian and travel investments.
Josh partnered on programs which brought technology to residents in need including distributing 5,000 new laptops in a partnership with the United Way of Frederick County and organized digital skills training sessions so adults can get connected into the digital economy.
Josh has served on the City’s planning commission and represented residents as an elected Alderman on the City of Frederick’s Board of Aldermen (now City Council).
Josh collaborated to help Frederick establish its first all-weather homeless shelter while also supporting the zoning for a women’s and children’s rapid re-housing center.
He fiercely advocated for a full-sized indoor gym recreation center at Butterfly Ridge ES where none had existed before.
Josh championed after-school arts education at Lincoln and Hillcrest elementary schools, an initiative between the City and the MET.
Josh supported the expansion of affordable senior housing that used innovative state-county-local financing and voted to dedicate land for a future (much-needed) elementary school site.
Josh fought to help keep City water rates low, knowing those on limited incomes would be hurt the most and knows that affordability is a crisis faced by many of our fellow residents today.
Now, Josh is ready to bring that same record of hands-on leadership and community-driven problem-solving to the County Council to ensure District 3 neighborhoods get the attention, investment, and results we deserve.
